I’m Ready to Know is about ending HIV in Canada with low-barrier access to self-testing and connections to care.

I’m Ready to Know is a national program that is implementing, scaling-up and evaluating low-barrier options for access to HIV self-testing. We want to reach the undiagnosed and give people choices about how to connect to the care they need. Our vision is for everyone in Canada to have access to HIV testing and support.

Our flagship initiative, the I’m Ready program , is distributing 50,000 free HIV self-testing kits across Canada and inviting self-testers to connect to care and anonymously share their results

I’m Ready to Know is one of the programs part of the I AM Initiative. I AM is a national grass-roots initiative to raise awareness and action about getting tested for HIV to know your status and take steps to stay healthy. I AM

We know that one size doesn’t fit all. We are designing different access and delivery options for HIV self-testing in Canada and evaluating how well these work, for whom, and in what contexts. We’re also creating care pathways to help people navigate HIV testing, care and prevention systems and services.

Other programs part of the I AM initiative include:

  • Our Healthbox:
    • Our HealthBox is a ‘smart’, interactive dispensing machine that provides low barrier access to self-testing kits for HIV, and essential harm reduction and sexual health supplies, to reach individuals with complex health and social needs who may be living with HIV and don’t know it. Our HealthBox also provides health information, and a support services directory for people to find the health care they need – in their community.
  • Public Health Agency of Canada – Community Link
    • Community Link is a community-based initiative funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada. The initiative supports front-line community agencies across the country to provide low barrier access to HIV self-tests to reach the undiagnosed with HIV, and support people before, during and after they test with connections to prevention, care and treatment.
