To do the test, you prick your finger using the test materials provided in the kit to produce a single drop of blood. Next, you continue to follow the instructions in the package insert, and then interpret the results.

The test is performed in 4 simple steps:

  1. Use the lancet to prick your finger and get the drop of blood.
  2. Allow the blood drop to fall into Bottle 1 (red cap), mix by inverting a few times, then pour it fully into the test device.
  3. After the contents of Bottle 1 have fully absorbed into the test device, mix and pour the contents of Bottle 2 (blue cap) fully into the test device.
  4. After the contents of Bottle 2 have been absorbed into the test device, mix and pour the contents of Bottle 3 (clear cap), and read the results immediately after the contents have been absorbed into the device. There is no wait time.

The whole process can take as little as one minute. For interpreting the results, one dot will appear on all completed tests to indicate that the test working. This verifies that enough blood was added and that the test was done properly. If HIV antibodies are present a second dot will appear. Each test kit can only be used once.

For more information, watch the video to see how the test works.
